Shelley has offered a five day Yoga Reteat at Tassajara for eleven years and will return for year number twelve. 


Tassajara is nestled in a mountain valley, inland from the Big Sur coast in a remote part of the Ventana Wilderness. Long known as a place of healing, the hot springs of Tassajara were first used by the native Esselen people. 

Enjoy morning and evening yoga practice, soak in the hot springs, settle into silent meditation, meander along the creek, explore miles of trails, and savor Tassajara’s flavorful vegetarian cuisine. The hand-crafted Japanese-style bathhouse has separate sides for men and women and is clothing-optional. Each side has a tiled indoor hot plunge, an outdoor plunge, steam room, communal showers, and a private bath. There are spacious decks for sunning and creek access. 

Zen meditation instruction is offered every afternoon. Guests are invited to join the residential community for meditation and chanting every morning and evening. Guest speakers and residents offer public talks and small group discussions about Buddhism several times a week. 

Tassajara is known for its delicious vegetarian cuisine and world famous bread; all meals are included as part of your stay. Breakfast and dinner are served family style. For lunch, you may choose between eating in the dining room or making a gourmet picnic “bag lunch” from a buffet featuring homemade spreads, delectable desserts, and freshly baked bread.
